Governance of ITxMaritime

ITxMaritime is a member-driven association — managed by its members and serving their shared purpose: to enable open, interoperable, and data-driven solutions for the maritime sector.

Collaboration is at the heart of ITxMaritime.

The association operates as an open, transparent, and inclusive community where members contribute knowledge and expertise for the common good. Its work focuses solely on enabling data interoperability, and all activities strictly comply with competition and antitrust legislation.

In developing specifications, members are invited to propose topics, contribute to discussions, and shape both the scope and solutions.

Work is coordinated through two main committees:

The Requirements Committee (RC) defines what needs to be achieved – the functional and operational needs.
The Technical Committee (TC) defines how these needs are implemented – translating requirements into interoperable, practical solutions.

Working groups

For specific topics, the committees create Working Groups open to all members, ensuring broad participation and expertise. Once the work is completed, results are reviewed and endorsed by the Executive Board before publication.

The General Assembly is the highest decision-making body. It brings together all members annually to approve the association’s direction, actions, and budget. Moreover, the Executive Board oversees strategy and governance, ensuring that activities align with ITxMaritime’s objectives. Board members are elected among the strategic members. Day-to-day operations are led by the Secretary General, who coordinates activities and supports the community.
